THE MISSION OF THE BROAD STREET CHURCH OF CHRIST
CONNECT WITH GOD
CONNECT WITH OTHERS
CONNECT OTHERS WITH GOD
THROUGH
LEADING OF THE HOLY SPIRITWe believe that the Holy Spirit takes up residence in every person who has submitted themselves to the Lordship of Christ through faith, repentance, and baptism (Acts 2:36-39). God's Spirit is promised to every follower of Jesus to help mold and shape them into the image of Jesus (2 Corinthians 3:18; Galatians 5:22-25).
FERVENT PRAYERThe power of prayer to almighty God cannot be understated. We have a direct line of communication to the King of all the universe. We pray regularly for our world, country, state, and community (1 Timothy 2:1-6). We belive that praying for one another is one of the greatest things we can do to combat the evil in this world (Ephesians 6:10-18).
PASSIONATE WORSHIPThe grace and majesty of God moves us to praise and worship Him. We do this collectively as a church every Sunday, but also worship Him in our daily lives as well (Romans 12:1). One of the most important ways we worship God together is through weekly communion. We are convinced that the early church ate the Jesus meal every week (Acts 20:1-7), so we do so as well.
DEEP BIBLE STUDYGod has chosen to communicate with us through His Son, the Lord Jesus Christ (Hebrews 1:1-3). We believe that all scripture, Genesis through Revelation, is a unified story that tells us the Good News about Him that we so desperately need to hear (2 Timothy 3:16-17). Studying scripture is something we do every week both collectively and individually.
LOCAL & GLOBAL EVANGELISMWe want all people to know Jesus and be in a covenant relationship with Him, so we are dedicated to taking the Good News of Jesus to people in our community and around the world (1 Timothy 2:3-6). Our mission work is mostly focused in Honduras with Living Hope for Honduras, started by one of our very own members.
SELFLESS SERVICEJesus taught his original disciples to serve one another. In fact, He told them that the way people would know that they were his disciples was through the love that they showed (John 13). We believe that one of the most important parts of telling the Good News is showing the Good News through our acts of service. The love of God is not merely an intellectual reality. It is one that should reach into the way we treat others (1 John 4:19-21).
CONNECT GROUPSThe early church met in large group settings and in smaller settings in each other's homes (Acts 2:42-47). The modern church needs to follow this pattern as well, so we meet each Sunday morning and Wednesday evening in large settings at our building, and most Sunday evenings in smaller settings in various members' homes. We call these small group meetings Connect Groups.
CHILDREN AND YOUTH MINISTRIESYoung people are the future of the church. We believe one of our major goals is to train the next generation to continue walking with Jesus and taking Him to the world. We have Bible classes for all ages here at Broad Street, and believe that the role of the church is to equip families to do effective youth ministry at home. Visit our Broad Street Kids and Broad Street Youth pages for more info.
